    Nigeria set for 3-D survey for 3 coal power plants

    18 July 2012, Sweetcrude, LAGOS – THE Nigerian government says it would soon commence a three-dimensional seismic survey for the building of three coal-fired power plants that would be located in Enugu, Kogi and Gombe states.

    The power stations, with a combined 3,000 megawatts, MW, capacity is expected to help resolve Nigeria’s lingering power problem.

    According to Professor Pius Okeke, special adviser to the Power Minister, Professor Barth Nnaji, the construction of the stations power has been approved been approved by the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

    Okeke’s disclosure came as Sepco III Electric Power Construction Corporation of China said it would be bidding for the 1,200MW capacity coal plant to be located in Benue State.

    It would be working with a local Nigerian company, Pacific Energy Linmited, on the project.
