19 February 2013, PORT HARCOURT— PLANS to site Africa’s largest fertilizer plant in Eleme, Rivers State, by 2015, could be hampered by the host community’s determination to see that the project does not materialise in absence of a satisfactory Environmental Impact Assessment, EIA.

Reacting, Eleme community, already host to Indorama acquired Eleme Petrochemicals, warned that if the company failed to carry out a proper EIA, embracing all community interest groups among other stakeholders, to determine the socio-economic and environmental impact on the immediate host, the plant will not see the light of the day.
