27 March 2013, Asaba – The Obi- Anyinma community in Abavo, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, has threatened legal action against Pan Ocean, an oil exploration and producing company, over the location of a proposed flow station, which the company wants to site in another community.
They have given the company a seven-day period to relocate the proposed flow station at Owa-Alidinma to their community, else they will head for the court.
The flow station is meant for crude output from Oil Prospecting License, OPL, 275 block.
Counsel to Abavo community and 36 other communities in OPL 275 said in a petition that the plan to locate the proposed flow station at Owa-Alidinma was a violation of an earlier agreement and understanding that the oil company would site the facility at Obi-Ayinma, noting
that the people were out to fight what he described as an injustice on Abavo community.
