David Cameron Sonangol18 June 2013, Luanda – Angola’s state-run Sonangol has awarded a sub-contract for subsea construction and operational support at its Palanca field at block 3 off Angola to Reef Subsea.

Reef Subsea’s Bergen-based subsea services division is to send the Reef Despina subsea construction vessel to West Africa for the 30-day firm charter.

The Reef Despina will provide operational support during the installation of five subsea electrical cables in water depths of between 40 and 100 metres.

The vessel will provide remotely-operated vehicle and craneage assistance during the cable installation.

The award from French-registered, west Africa-based contractor Stapem Offshore is the company’s third in the region and marks the departure of its second vessel to the area.

The Reef Larissa is already in the region working on two projects for an undisclosed pair of clients described as major oil & gas operators.
