28 June 2013, News Wires – A worker employed by Calgary-based Calmena Energy Services has died on a drilling rig in north-west Alberta, Canada.
Calmena said the, as yet, unnamed 32-year old worker died of injuries he suffered in a fall on a drilling rig on a lease operated by Birchcliff Energy, about 40 kilometres east of Dawson Creek.
It added that operations at the rig, which was drilling a surface hole at the time of the accident, were immediately suspended.
The Spirit River Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety are conducting separate investigations, supported by Calmena and Birchcliff.
