23 July 2013, News Wires – Terrex Seismic has kicked off a 385-kilometre 2D seismic survey covering four shale blocks in Australia’s Northern Territory being explored by Statoil and Canada’s PetroFrontier Corporation.
The seismic shoot aims to “delineate the southern and northwest basin margins and help outline prospective hydrocarbon target areas” on EPs 103, 104, 127 and 128, PetroFrontier Corporation.
The survey aims to pinpoint both conventional targets in the Cambrian Thorntonia and other formations and unconventional hydrocarbons in the Lower Cambrian Arthur Creek Formation, the explorer said.
The Calgary-based explorer is currently the operator of the Southern Georgina Basin licences but Statoil is set to take over operatorship under a multi-stage farm-in with varying working interests depending on how the project progresses.
Drilling is envisaged to start later this year or in 2014.
