10 March 2014, Cairo – Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail said cooperation with Jordan and Iraq in oil and natural gas projects is progressing, adding that Egypt is committed to supply Jordan with gas under the previous agreements in spite of bombings of the pipeline.
Speaking to the Middle East News Agency on the fringe of his current visit to Jordan, the Egyptian minister talked of joint projects between the three countries that will benefit all parties.
Ismail touched on a project to establish a pipeline from Iraq to Aqaba to supply Jordan with crude oil, adding that the same pipeline will be extended to Egypt in the future to meet its oil needs.
Iraqi gas fields will be linked to the Arab gas pipeline to supply Egypt and Jordan with their needs of natural gas, Ismail said, noting that this project is of strategic importance to all three countries.
