22 April 2014, News Wires – Oilfield services giant Halliburton is building a new facility in Texas to test new technologies and train employees for all of its business lines.
The Houston-based company bought more than 1300 acres in Cameron, Texas, about 75 miles north-east of Austin and began construction on the facility in March last year. It expects to complete the project late in the third quarter this year once a custom-built drilling rig is delivered and commissioned.
Halliburton contracted Trinidad Design & Manufacturing to build rig, which is designed for drilling, product testing and training activities.
The facility will include testing and training wells; a workshop for tool preparation and inspection; offices; classrooms; and conference rooms.
On Monday, Halliburton reported income from continuing operations of $623 million for the first quarteron record quarterly revenues of $7.3 billion.
