Polarcus22 September 2014, News Wires – Oslo-listed seismic contractor TGS has secured a further 3D survey in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico under the so-called Explorer Series data acquisition programme.

The company intends to kick off the Panfilo multi-client survey covering 11,500 square kilometres in the Lund and Henderson protraction areas of the central US Gulf in the fourth quarter, with data to be made available in late 2015.

TGS intends to use the chartered vessel Polarcus Adira for the shoot with the unit to tow 10-kilometre streamers to image regional stratigraphy and deep basin structures.

“This data volume will represent a continued investment in the deep-water region of the Gulf of Mexico and will provide new, high-quality data over mainly open acreage, which will be available to industry in future lease rounds,” said TGS’ senior vice president for the Western Hemisphere, Rod Starr.
