    Man dies stealing fuel from Jos base station

    30 Septembr 2014, Jos ~ A 30-year-old man, identified as Timlok, was on Tuesday electrocuted during his attempt to siphon fuel from the base station of one of the mobile telecommunication providers.

    The incident took place at the Old Cemetery Street in the heart of Jos metropolis.

    A worker holds a fuel nozzle at a petrol pump in MumbaiEye witnesses said the suspect was trying to escape from the base station when light was restored, leading to his electrocution.

    He was said to have been burnt beyond recognition.

    The suspect was alleged to have on occasions, been caught on suspected theft-related offences, including vandalism of power
    installations.

    The Police Public Relations Officer, Emmanuell Abu, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

    He said three young men were at the GSM installation on criminal mission.

    He explained that the first person entered to cut the wires but was electrocuted while the others fled.

    Abu advised youths to engage themselves in productive business, rather than resorting to actions that could be injurious.
