12 October 2014, Mogadishu – The second Somali oil and gas conference is due to be held at Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London on October 20, 2014.

The executive director of Soma Oil and Gas Company said cooperating with the federal government in the production of oil and gas will be the main agenda of the conference. The Minister for Oil and Natural Resources, Daa’uud Mohamed Omar said Soma Oil and Gas Company is a good shareholder which was working with his ministry in the last few years. The minister said he is delighted with the increased interest in oil and gas production in the country. He welcomed any other interested firm to come forward so as to take part in the exploration of oil and gas inside Somalia.

Soma Oil and Gas Company signed an agreement with the federal government of Somalia in the year 2013, an agreement which was on the exploration of hydrocarbon. The firm has so far managed to do its explorations on 20,500kms off the Somali coast, in a project that was worth $37m.
