Mkpoikana Udoma 30 October 2014, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC Worldwide has commended the efforts of the combined team of security agencies who worked to rescue Madam Osiya Agama, the younger sister to Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, in the late hours of Wednesday, 29th of October, at Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The IYC, in a statement, by its spokesperson, Mr. Eric Omare, also commended Ijaw youths from Eastern Zone of the IYC who provided useful information and worked with security agencies towards the release of the kidnapped Madam Agama Osiya.
However, the IYC in the statement, called on government at all levels to constructively engaged youths of the Niger-Delta to address the increasing spate of kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, oil bunkering and other social vices.
The statement further stated, “while the IYC condemn criminality of whatever nature in Ijaw land and any part of the Niger-Delta in its entirety, we strongly believe that provision of jobs and other means of constructive engagement is the panacea to these problems”.
The IYC called on politicians to concentrate their efforts on job creations as the 2015 general elections approaches.
