10 November 2014, Lagos — In its continued efforts to improve the standard of living of its rural dwellers and ensure that they enjoy the dividends of democracy, the Lagos State government at the weekend handed over rural electrification projects to two communities in Ikorodu and Imota Local Government and Local Government Development Area.
Handing over the first project at Igbopa Ifesowapo at Abule Eko in Ijede Area of Ikorodu, the Commissioner for Rural Development, Cornelius Ojelabi, said the state government decided to accede to their request for rural electrification despite the fact that it is the responsibility of the Federal Government, who in turn has handed it over to the private sector in other to ensure that they enjoy the dividend of democracy in their area.
He therefore enjoined them to reciprocate the kind gesture by taking ownership of the project and protect it from vandalism.
