22 December 2014, News Wires – Singapore’s Raffles Energy has started production from the Ruda-1 exploration well in Romania, according to joint venture partner Zeta Petroleum.
The well flowed over three days at a rate of up to 25,000 meters cubed per day.
The well on the Suceava concession was targeting an exploration prospect analogue to the company’s Cimauti gas field.
Drilling started late last month and reached target depth in early December, with mud and wire logs analysed shortly after drilling.
The well was then cased and perforated before test flows were observed, with a good quality of conventional natural gas flowing from the Sarmatian sandstone reservoir.
Ruda-1 was completed as a production well and put in conservation with a view to connect this discovery to the Bilca gas processing plant operated by Raffles, via a 750-metre tie back to the Climauti field to Bilca flowline.
Production is expected to start from the discovery in the second quarter of next year.
Raffles operates the Suceava concession in a 50:50 partnership with Zeta.
