04 August 2015 – UK-based subsea contractor Ceona has forged a strategic partnership with local support vessel player Interoil Angola to target work off the West African country.

The tie-up marks Ceona’s entry into the country’s offshore arena where it is looking to land work for its pipelay vessel Ceona Amazon to install subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines on field development projects.

The newly formed alliance mirrors the existing Ceona-Seaweld joint venture in Ghana as well as the subsea construction contractor’s strategic partnership with Marine Platforms in Nigeria as it seeks to expand its West African footprint.

Ceona’s business development chief Bill Hickie said Luanda-based Interoil Angola is one of the few local players with a licence for offshore vessel management and is “an approved supplier by the major operators in the region”.
