12 August 2015, News Wires – Islamic State’s (IS) affiliate in Egypt has claimed to have murdered and beheaded a Croatian national working for a company connected with French seismic player CGG, according to reports.
The Sinai province affiliate of the terrorist group posted pictures it claimed were of the body of Tomislav Salopek, who was kidnapped on 22 July while travelling to Cairo.
There has, however, been no official confirmation of Salopek’s death. However, Croatia’s Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic is due to address the nation on the issue of Salopek’s abduction, the BBC reported on Wednesday afternoon.
Salopek works for Ardiseis Egypy, a unit of CGG which specialises in oil and gas geology. The company had confirmed last month that he was abducted and had appeared in an IS video demanding the release of Muslim women in Egyptian jails in 48 hours or he would be killed.
