18 January 2016, Port Harcourt – The Nigerian Navy has handed over a vessel and wooden boats conveying 10,000 litres of illegal diesel, to the Economic and financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Port Harcourt.
Base Information Officer, NNS Pathfinder, Obio Akpor Local Government Area, Lt Cdr Hamman Ahmed, disclosed this yesterday to newsmen in a statement.
He said the vessel, MT Purity, was caught conveying the product with no permit and two crew members aboard.
He said: “We discovered that the vessel, manned by two crew members, had no competency to justify them serving onboard the vessel.
“Similarly, the vessel had no authorization from both the Navy and other relevant government agencies to move petroleum products.”
