20 April 2017, Sweetcrude, Uyo – The Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, Akwa Ibom State, has announced the promotion of 378 employees of the institution.
According to a statement by the academy, the promotion is the outcome of the junior, senior and management staff interviews conducted on the academy campus late last year.
The statement signed by Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Siddi Mkpandiok, said this was the first time in the school’s 40 years of existence that about half of the staff members would be promoted at once.
The statement said the promotion exercise affected employees who had worked for years without being promoted, as well as some who had just got their first-ever promotion.
“Out of the total number, junior workers are 157; while the senior and management staff members drawn from both the academic and administration arms are 221.
“Among them are three chief lecturers – Maurice Nduka Ijeoma; Innocent Chijioke Ezeala and Dr. John Aderemi Adeyanju; four directors – Siddi Mkpandiok of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Essien of Personnel Affairs and Mr. Sunday Udoh of Finance and Accounts as well as Mr. Okon Okon, also of the Finance and Accounts.
Four others were promoted to the rank of assistant chief lecturers and they are: Mrs. Atim Ikara, Mr. Ekwere William, Mr. Olaoluwa Omotosho and Mrs. Angela Udofe. Mr. Effiong Okon was promoted to the position of assistant chief librarian.
Two members of staff, Mr. Peter Netson and Mr. Ishiola Yusuf were promoted to the rank of deputy registrar while Babawale Ogunsola and Mrs. Theresa Anya were promoted deputy directors.
