    National Power Summit holds in Uyo

    25 October 2017, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The 2017 edition of the National Power Safety Summit, NPSS, which was expected to held last week in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital, has now been slated to on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27.

    The summit, with the theme, “Reducing the Alarming Trends in Staff and Public Fatality in the Nigerian Power Sector,” will have the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, as keynote speaker.

    Speaking in Port Harcourt, the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, NPSS, Mr. Gabriel Egede, said major key players, including the Chairmen of the National Assembly Committee on Power, as well as experts in the Nigerian Power and Energy Sector have been earmarked to make presentations at the event on a wide range of issues bedevilling the power sector.

    “Other key resource persons in the Nigerian Power and Energy Sector have been earmarked to make presentations at the event on a wide range of Health Safety Environment challenges in the sector such as Vandalism, a Disservice to Power Sector, Effective Regulatory Compliance as a Strategy for Reducing Staff and Third-Party Incidents in the Power Sector etc.

    “Syndicate sessions on ways of tackling these challenges across Generation, Transmission and Distribution sub-sectors shall be held at the event,” he said.

    He added: “Major key players like the Senate Committee Chairman on Power, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and his counterpart in the House of Representatives, Hon Daniel Asuquo, have already indicated interest to attend the event and will be speaking on the legislative role of the National Assembly in stopping citizens from erecting structures and trading under high tension lines”.
