13 January 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Nigerian Navy has urged the Federal Lawmakers to initiate legislation that would enable the Navy to prosecute arrested criminals, instead of handing over the suspects to sister security agencies.
This, the Navy said is to minimize escape from receiving appropriate punishments by criminals from law courts due to lack of diligent prosecution.
Rear Adm. Victor Adedipe, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command, made the appeal when members of the House of Representatives Committee on Navy paid an oversight visit to headquarters of the Command earlier this week in Calabar.
