23 January 2018, News Wires – Malaysian energy giant Petronas said its LNG cargo deliveries at the Bintulu complex were not affected by a gas leak incident at its Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) located in Long Luping, Lawas on January 10.

As a result of the incident, gas supply from the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) to the LNG complex in Bintulu “has been stopped to ensure the safety of the incident site,” Petronas said in its statement.

Gas supply to customers remains unaffected, it added.

“Investigations into the cause of the gas leak incident are ongoing. Petronas is working closely with the authorities and community to ensure people’s safety at all times,” the company added.

Worth mentioning, Petronas last year launched commercial operations at Train 9 with a production capacity of 3.6 million tons per annum (MTPA).

The latest addition boosted the total output capacity of the Petronas LNG complex to 30 MTPA.
