10 May 2018, Sweetcrude, Houston, Texas — 74 planned and announced floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) are expected to start their operations by 2025. Among countries globally, Brazil continues to lead with 27 planned and announced FPSO additions by 2025.
Angola has six planned and announced FPSO additions followed by Nigeria with five. Both Australia and Norway have four planned FPSOs each, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
Globally, among operators, Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. leads with 23 planned and announced FPSOs, followed by Saipem S.p.A, Statoil ASA, Premier Oil Plc and Modec Inc with three FPSOs each between 2018 and 2025.
Globally, South America leads with 33 planned and announced FPSO additions by 2025, followed by Africa and Europe with 17 and 7 FPSOs, respectively.
Adrian Lara, Senior Oil & Gas Analyst at GlobalData, comments, “In the African region, most of the planned and announced FPSOs are expected to start their operations in Angola and Nigeria. In Europe, UK and Norway will have 7 planned and announced FPSOs expected to come online by 2025. Malaysia, China, Indonesia and India are the leading countries in Asia, with most of the planned FPSOs.”
Israel in the Middle East region will have one planned FPSO. In North America, Mexico will have one announced and one planned FPSO and the US and Canada have one announced FPSO each.
