22 November 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Minister of States for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has assured that the Federal government plans, through its fiscal policies, to ensure that the country’s oil and gas industry does not remain in the extractive state.
Speaking at the ongoing 36th edition of the annual conference and exhibition of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, NAPE, in Lagos, Kachikwu said though Nigeria had in the last 60 years been extracting hydrocarbons, it had been largely dependent on imported petroleum products.
He said part of the fiscal policies planned by the government would ensure that the situation “changes significantly”, stressing, “The imperative for our (oil and gas) industry is really not to remain extractive”.
