Port Harcourt — A fire explosion has occurred in a pipeline operated by the Petroleum Product Marketing Company, PPMC in Komkom area of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The pipeline, SweetCrude Reports gathered is a high-pressure pipeline that supplies liquid such as Automated Gasoline Oil (diesel), Premium Motor Spirit (fuel) and Dual Purpose Kerosene from the Port Harcourt Refining Company, PHRC, to Aba and Enugu depots.

It has not yet been ascertained if the explosion was an act of sabotage or a rupture as a result of equipment failure due to lack of maintenance of the pipeline by PPMC, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

But the Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Mr. Gerald Oforji, who confirmed the incident said no life nor houses were affected by the explosion.
