Cape Town — South African power utility Eskom has seen a “dramatic reduction” in demand from key industrial users in the coronavirus lockdown that led to a net cash loss of around 2.5 billion rand ($133.50 million) in April, the chief executive said on Wednesday.
Addressing lawmakers, Eskom’s Andre de Ruyter said the utility intended procuring an additional 900 megawatts of power before the end of the year to boost generation capacity. ($1 = 18.7264 rand)
