Port Harcourt — A group known as Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta, MOSIEND, has threatened to shutdown operations of Dangote Group in Rivers State, over alleged tax evasion.

Leader of the group, Kennedy Tonjo-West, who disclosed this at the inauguration of the Eastern zone of the group in Port Harcourt, said Dangote Group does not pay tax due to the Rivers State Government.

West challenged the management of Dangote to make public their tax records, else the group will mobilized members to shut down the company’s operations in NPA Port Harcourt.

“The Niger Delta region is being taken for granted. Dangote does not pay tax that is due to the Rivers State Government. Even INTELS too, they don’t pay their tax due to Rivers State and that is unacceptable to us.

“This is the time for the region to open the books. The Federal Government must explain to us why the region is being neglected.”

The group so accused security agencies of failing in their responsibility of securing lives and properties, while calling for the demilitarization of the Niger Delta region.

They charged security agencies to explain to the people of Rivers State, the reason why sea piracy, kidnapping and other forms of criminality continue to thrive in the state, despite the heavy presence of security.

“The military is guiding multinationals, while these multinationals violate their corporate social responsibility to the people.

“The Federal Government should immediately demilitarized the Niger Delta region. Indigenes of oil host communities should be part of the JTF providing security to oil companies.”
