Port Harcourt — The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, says the ongoing power outage in Port Harcourt and its environs, is as a result of an explosion which rocked the power transformer at TCN’s transmission station.
Although the Disco did not disclose what caused the explosion, PHED Acting Manager Corporate Communications, Mrs Chioma Aninwe, however, assured that efforts were ongoing to restore power supply.
Aninwe mentioned the areas affected by the power outage to include, Rumuokwuta, NTA Road, Rumuola, Ikwerre Road from Wimpey junction to Rumuigbo junction, Ada George, GRA Phase 1, 2 and 3.
Others are, Oroworukwo community, Olu- Obasanjo Road, Rumukalagbor, some parts of Rumuibekwe, Rumuola under the bridge, Rumuola link road, and parts of Stadium Road.
She appealed for patience and understanding from electricity customers, as the Disco works with TCN to restore supply.
“Please be informed that the outage being experienced in some parts of Rivers State is as a result of an explosion that shattered the power transformer at the transmission station.
“Repairs are already ongoing and supply would be restored as soon as possible,” PHED said.
