…Parts of Lagos to experience darkness
Lagos — About five electricity transmission towers from the Egbin Power Station collapsed in the Idimu and Igando areas of Lagos State Friday morning.
With the collapse of the towers, electricity cables fell across the roads in the areas, causing panic.
The co-ordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, in the South West Zone, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident, advising members of the public to observe safety precautions.
“Residents of Igando, Idimu Axis are strongly advised to observe serious safety precautions due to the collapse of high tension poles that emanated from Egbin Hydro power station.
“The line is from Ikorodu across Ikeja and other areas. The Fire Service has been mobilised to provide cover in case of fire outbreak,” he said.
No casualty has been reported following the incident.
But, fears are that with the incident, many parts of Lagos would be in darkness until the fallen towards are restored.
