Port Harcourt — Ugborodo youths in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, have accused the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, of neglect and abandonment of their corporate social responsibilities to the community.

To this end, the youths have petitioned the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, warning that it will not allow the Dutch multinational to disrespect them, the landlords and host to their facilities in the area.

The youths in a statement made available to SweetCrudeReports, and signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Wilson Ejeh and Mr. Dennis Egbayinor, mentioned water project, electrification project, road construction and employment of the indigenes by SPDC, as their demands.

Ejeh and Egbayinor, said they sent the management of SPDC a letter on November 2021, to draw the company’s attention to the community’s plight and make known their grievances, but up till this moment there has been no response from the company.

The statement reads in part, “Ogidigben, Ajudaibo down to Madangho Community Water Project has been abandoned by SPDC.

“The SPDC has also abandoned the electrification of Otumara down to Ode-Ugborodo, Ajudaibo, and Madangho communities.

“SPDC has refused to pay attention to the only access road from Ogidigben Flow Station through Ogidigben, Ajudaibo, and Madangho communities, which has been in poor condition for years.

“The issue of community indigenes becoming SPDC direct staff has not been addressed by management since the beginning of their operations on our land.

“On November 8th, 2021, we submitted a letter to SPDC management articulating the above points; up till date, they have refused to respond.

“We will not allow SPDC management to disrespect our community,” the youths warned.
