Port Harcourt — The 2,000tonnes Conductor Supported Platform, fabricated by Dorman Long Engineering Limited, has been loaded out for the development of Madu oilfields in the Oil Mining Lease, OML, 85.

Dorman Long, a member of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, PETAN, constructed the platform for an indigenous oil operator, First E&P, which operates a joint venture with NNPC Limited.

The wellhead platform, which is 100 percent fabricated in Nigeria by Nigerians, according to First E&P, is targeted to produce over 44,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

Managing Director of First E&P, Mr. Ademola Adeyemi Bero, said PETAN contractors were fully part of the project, hinging strongly on local content.

Earlier in hisspeech at the load out ceremony, the Chairman of Dorman Long Engineering Limited, Dr. Timi Austen-Peters, said the platform is wholly indigenous as its construction was carried out 100 percent by Nigerians.

He commended the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, First E&P, among other stakeholders, for deepening local content and growing the capabilities of Nigerians.

Present at the event were Rear Admiral Ibrahim Hamza, Admin Superintendent of the Nigerian Naval Dockyard; Rear Admiral Ayo Olubode, CEO, Admiralty Maritime Services; General Manager of NAPIMS, an NNPC subsidiary, Mr. Duduwaya Zakariya; and PETAN’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Ranti Omole, among others.
