Port Harcourt — The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has deepen its partnership with First Independent Power Limited, a subsidiary of Sahara Group, in order to consolidate on the gains of the existing synergy with the global energy firm.
Managing Director of PHED, Dr Benson Uwheru, in a business meeting with FIPL to review progress made, said his first assignment when he assumed office was to discuss the PHED/FIPL partnership with the industry regulators.
Uwheru said he has also fine-tuned strategies on the way forward so that the laudable initiatives of both companies will not suffer delay or setback as they move to improve on power supply to end users
He recalled that both companies had entered a strategic partnership in the year 2020 to ensure that quality and stable power supply is delivered to PHED customers across its franchise area.
According to him, in 2020 one megawatt was delivered and added to PHED’s network, and in 2021 another 12 megawatts was added.
“PHED customers, mostly Maximum Demand customers in the Port Harcourt metro have benefited from this partnership, and expansion to other areas in the PHED franchise is being considered.”
Meanwhile, the PHED boss has also urged employees of the company to be solution driven and innovative with creative ways of performing their assignments.
The charge came on the heels of directives issued to power distribution companies in the country recently by the sector regulator, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.
