Port Harcourt — The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has charged the management of Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG, on the timely delivery of its planned extension of the Bodo-Bonny Road project to the Ogoni section of the East-West Road.
Governor Fubara, who gave the charge when he received the management of NLNG while on a courtesy visit at the Government House in Port Harcourt, tasked the gas company not to delay in ending the associated sufferings of Rivers people on the dilapidated East-West Road.
The governor assured that his administration was working to sustain the prevailing security enjoyed in the state, in order to make the state safer and also create a more business-friendly environment that will boost the confidence of investors.
Fubara recalled how effective collaboration between the NLNG and the state government had resulted in the facilitation and establishment of a renal dialysis centre at the Rivers State Teaching Hospital.
He, however, urged the management of the company to increase its Corporate Social Responsibility to host communities by engaging more youths in their ongoing Train-7 Project with employment and contracts award.
Earlier, the Managing Director of NLNG, Dr Philip Mshelbila, said the visit to the governor was imperative to identify and pledge their support to the Fubara-led administration.
Mshelbila announced that the 38km-Bodo-Bonny Road project, being sponsored by the company in collaboration with the Federal Government, will be completed by the first quarter of next year, with plans to connect it to the East-West Road.
He further disclosed that the visit to the governor was to explore avenues to expand areas of collaboration which will boost the state’s economy and NLNG’s operational opportunities.
