    NUPRC joins industry stakeholders to address stability, sustainability in oil & gas sector

    Lagos — The 2024 Society of Petroleum Engineers Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum kicked off in Abuja with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, underscoring the importance of adopting modern technologies to propel the country’s oil and gas production capabilities.

    The event in Abuja with the theme: “Stability in the Energy Sector: Integrated Strategies for Infrastructure, Transportation, and Security”, brought together prominent stakeholders from Nigeria’s oil and gas industry united in their mission to assess activities in the industry and chart a course towards enhanced stability and sustainability.

    The Chief Executive Officer of NUPRC, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, represented at the forum by the Executive Commissioner for Development and Production, Mr. Enorense Amadasun, emphasised the critical importance of investments in new oil and gas infrastructure, maintenance of existing assets, and adoption of modern technologies to propel the country’s production capabilities.

    Komolafe underscored NUPRC’s commitment to establishing a robust energy framework and regulatory mechanism tailored toward accelerating production. He noted the Commission’s collaborative efforts with stakeholders which have culminated in the development of comprehensive security measures targeted at safeguarding oil and gas infrastructure across Nigeria.

    These initiatives reflect a concerted industry-wide endeavour to address security challenges and ensure uninterrupted operations.

    The event was attended by a line-up of industry operators, regulators and stakeholders, among them was the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited ,NNPC, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority ,NMDPRA, and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund ,PTDF. Their presence underscored the shared commitment to confront industry challenges head-on and foster a resilient and prosperous oil and gas sector in Nigeria.
