Port Harcourt — Nigeria has confirmed its full compliance with the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, production limits.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Senator Heineken Lokpobiri made the pledge during the 56th Meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee, JMMC, where he joined virtually.
The meeting reviewed the conformity and compensation efforts of countries participating in the Declaration of Cooperation, DoC.
Lokpobiri emphasized that while Nigeria is increasing production in line with its national interests, the country is adhering to OPEC’s framework
He said, “Nigeria remains fully committed to the objectives of the DoC, and I can confidently confirm that our country is in conformity with the agreed production limits.
“While we continue to ramp up production in line with our national interests, we are doing so within the framework of OPEC’s guidelines,” he noted.
He further stressed Nigeria’s commitment to balancing responsible oil production with its economic goals, stating, “We remain committed to balancing responsible production with our economic goals, and continue to meet our obligations under the DoC.”
