Yenegoa — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Chairperson, Senate Committee on Local Content, has called for strategic vision and boldness in advancing Nigeria’s local content agenda.

Addressing key issues such as policy refinement, ecosystem development, innovation hubs, value chain optimization, and global market integration, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized the importance of sustainability in driving long-term success.

Delivering her goodwill message at the 13th Practical Nigerian Content Forum, PNC2024, in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State, the lawmaker commended the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, for organizing the event.

She expressed confidence that with deliberate collaboration, Nigeria can achieve significant milestones in local content development, while she tasked the NCDMB on the need to site a NOGaPs park in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, following the planned completion of Ajaokuta Steel Plant by the federal government in 2025.

“Breaking new frontiers requires both strategic vision and boldness. While the journey ahead may be challenging, it is essential. We must move beyond capacity development to establishment of cottage industries for job creation.

“I join my voice with that of the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo, on the need for NCDMB to speed up completion of NOGAPs parks, for in-country manufacturing of oil and gas equipment.”

Similarly, Hon. Boma Goodhead, Chairperson, House of Reps Committee on Local Content, applauded the NCDMB’s achievements and urged stakeholders to stay committed to excellence.

“We must share actionable plans and highlight our successes,” Goodhead said, stressing that collective efforts are key to building a prosperous and peaceful Nigeria.

Both lawmakers reaffirmed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders as the country seeks to enhance its local content capabilities and achieve sustainable growth.
