Port Harcourt — In a high-level meeting poised to reshape Nigeria’s energy landscape, the President/CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and the Group CEO of NNPC Limited, Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, have committed to deepening collaboration between their organisations to strengthen the nation’s energy security and economic prosperity.

Dangote, who led a delegation from Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, DPRP, on a courtesy visit to the NNPC Towers earlier today, stressed the need for synergy over rivalry, noting that collective efforts are key to transforming challenges into opportunities.

He said, “We must collaborate to turn impossibilities into realities. The composition of the new NNPC Ltd. Management Team gives me confidence. They bring deep industry knowledge and the right experience needed at this critical time.”

In response, NNPC Ltd. boss Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari applauded Dangote’s contributions to Africa’s industrial growth, describing him as “a humble African leader whose achievements continue to bring pride to the continent.”

Ojulari also expressed confidence in the competence of his team. “Since coming on board, I’ve met exceptional talent within NNPC Ltd. who are keen on giving their best for Nigeria’s growth and development,” he said.

Discussions at the meeting focused on forging mutually beneficial partnerships and fostering healthy competition between the state-owned oil company and the privately-owned refinery giant, both of which are central to Nigeria’s energy future.

In a show of commitment to sustained collaboration, both executives agreed to serve as ‘Relationship Managers’ for their respective organisations, signaling a new chapter of strategic cooperation and shared vision.

“The opportunities are limitless when we work together,” Ojulari noted.

The meeting comes as Nigeria announced plans to optimize its domestic refining capacity and end fuel import dependency, a goal seen as achievable only through strong public-private sector alignment.
