Abuja — NNPC Executive, Hasiya Audu, has called for energy policies that widen participation in the industry while improving affordability, access and opportunities for underserved communities.
Audu, Head, Non-Fuel Revenue, North-Central Region, NNPC Retail, made the call while moderating an interactive session on “Exploring Real-world Applications of Policy to Build an Equitable, Future-ready Energy Workforce” at Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The session, held under the Inclusion and Diversity track, examined how policy decisions shape market conditions, energy affordability and access across the industry.
Audu, who is also National Vice President of Women in Energy, Oil and Gas, WEOG, led discussions on how individuals and industry professionals can influence policy across ministries, national oil companies and non-governmental organisations.
Participants also examined ways policymakers could expand participation in energy projects and corporate boards while ensuring underserved communities gain access to secure and affordable energy.
The discussions further focused on the role of policy in preparing the energy workforce for a changing industry, with emphasis on creating broader opportunities for participation across the energy value chain.
The session formed part of Gastech 2026’s wider Inclusion and Diversity programme, bringing industry stakeholders together to examine how energy policy can shape a more participatory and resilient energy sector.
