Abuja — Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has directed the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc, PHED, to align its operations with the state’s electricity framework as the state transitions to its own electricity regulatory regime.
Eno gave the directive when he received the board and management of PHED at Government House, Uyo, where they discussed stronger collaboration to improve electricity supply across the state.
The governor said the state was committed to building a reliable electricity market capable of supporting households, businesses and industries, while advancing the objectives of his administration’s ARISE Agenda.
“I urged PHED to align its operations with our State electricity framework and comply with the regulatory transition to the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission,” Eno tweeted on X.
The governor said the state remained open to working with credible partners to improve power supply and strengthen the electricity market.
“We remain ready to work with credible partners to deliver more reliable power to our people,” he added.
The meeting comes as Akwa Ibom seeks to establish a more coordinated electricity framework within the state, with the governor stressing the need for distribution operations to align with the emerging regulatory structure.
Eno said improved electricity supply remained important not only for households but also for businesses and industries whose operations depend on reliable power.
