02 May 2013, WARRI – THE Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and other multinationals operating within Kokodiagbene community in Delta State has been advised to adhere strictly to the Nigerian Content Law in the award of contract.
This advised is contained in a statement from the executives and entire members of Kokodiagbene Indigenous Contractors Association, KICA, saying that they have the requisite material and financial muscle to handle community related projects.
The statement signed by Comrades Uyadonghan Powede and Jackson Timiyan, Chairman and Secretary of KICA respectively demanded “in strong terms that all multinational companies operating in our areas particularly the NPDC in her OML 42 re-entry operations and Chevron Nigeria Limited in her Uton-nana flow station operations should strictly adhere to the Nigerian Local Content Law in the award of contracts to indigenous contractors”.
They insisted that they posses the professional competence and experience required as community contractors as host to these oil fields, noting that by a resolution taken by KICA they would not condone any act of injustice in the award of henceforth as provided by the local content law.
They said the era of awarding their projects to non-indigenous contractors has past as they cannot seat by and watch other cart away benefits that should accrue to them naturally.
