03 March 2019, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Aiteo has finally broken its silence following accusations by locals around the Nembe Field Logistics Base, faulting the company’s attitude towards Friday’s explosion, noting that no life was lost in the incident.

Aiteo’s spokesman, Ndiana-Abasi Matthew, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that the explosion took place within the vicinity of Nembe Creek Well 7, behind Mile 1 Community in Bayelsa State, which is not too far from Nembe Field Logistics Base, FLB, and not the NCTL as widely reported.

According to him, there was no loss of life, adding that the fire had been put out without loss of life.

The NCTL exports 150,000 barrels of crude daily to the Bonny oil export terminal.

The export line has since been shut down for emergency repairs following a leak.

Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, in 2015, divested its equity in OML 29 and transferred its interest in NCTL for $1.7 billion to Aiteo, an indigenous Oil and Gas Exploration, and Production firm.
