26 March 2013, Brazaville – Aker Solutions of Norway has been awarded a $850 million subsea production system contract in Congo.
The company will be delivering the subsea production system for Total’s Moho Nord project off the Republic of the Congo.
First deliveries for the production system is scheduled for the second quarter of 2014.
Aker announced, Monday, the award of the contract, under which it is expected to deliver 28 vertical subsea trees, including wellhead systems, two installation and workover control systems, seven manifold structures, subsea control and tie-in systems.
According to the Norwegian company, the contract also carried additional options related to the Moho Nord project which Total could exercise at a later date.
Management, engineering and procurement will primarily be carried out at Aker’s headquarters in Fornebu, Norway, while the subsea trees and the workover systems will be manufactured at the Tranby manufacturing centre, outside Oslo.
The manifolds for the project will be produced at Aker’s facility in Egersund on the west coast of Norway, while its facility in Aberdeen, Scotland, will deliver the control systems and the wellheads.
The Moho Nord project lies about 75 kilometres off the coast of the Republic of Congo and consists of the two developments, Moho Nord and Moho Bilondo 1bis.
Total and its partners made a final investment decision on the development last week which will see the subsea wells tied back to Total’s Moho Bilondo floating production unit, to be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries and Doris Engineering.
Total operates the Moho Bilondo license with a 53.5% interest and is partnered by US supermajor Chevron on 31.5% and state-owned Societe Nationale des Petroles du Congo with the remaining 15% equity.
The Moho Nord project is scheduled to come onstream in 2015.
