Port Harcourt — The Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, for all government revenues, marking a major shift in public finance management aimed at tightening transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline.

Governor Umo Eno announced the policy rollout during his New Year address, declaring that the TSA takes effect from January 1, 2026, and applies to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, across the state.

Under the new regime, the governor said all revenues generated by MDAs must be paid into one consolidated government account, with spending strictly guided by approvals contained in the 2026 budget.

“The TSA regime will help consolidate our revenue and ensure that expenditures are run from one source as approved in our 2026 budget,” Governor Eno said.

“The era of MDAs generating and spending funds outside the TSA is over.”

He disclosed that implementation guidelines have already been communicated to MDAs through a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, stressing that compliance is mandatory.

Governor Eno warned that any agency or official that violates the directive would face sanctions, noting that the policy is critical to blocking revenue leakages and strengthening government oversight.

The TSA rollout, he explained, is a key component of the administration’s broader fiscal reforms under the Arise Agenda, designed to consolidate achievements recorded over the past two and a half years while accelerating development across sectors.

Beyond financial reforms, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, infrastructure development, agriculture, healthcare, education, and social welfare, assuring residents of sustained progress in the new year.

He urged citizens and stakeholders to support government policies aimed at responsible governance, unity, and sustainable economic growth, describing the TSA as a necessary step toward building a more transparent and efficient public sector in Akwa Ibom State.
