26 September 2015, Luanda — The Oil spill detected in the offshore in northern Cabinda province affected the seaside coast of Mandarin, Mpelas, Tchinchoho and Tsitsi.
This is contained in a press release from the Ministry of Environment delivered to Angop Tuesday, adding that the spill impacted on Massabi and Lândana perimeter region.
The sources quotes a technical team as working toward reduction of the negative effects the spill caused to the environment.
The experts are also collecting information to ensure the evaluation and taking the necessary measures.
“The Ministry of Environment is monitoring with concern the information about the case detected on 20 September this year in Cabinda Province, on the presence of crude (oil stain) in the local maritime waters,” the document added.
On reduction of the negative effects, the source mentioned actions focused on cleaning the affected areas as also being in progress in partnership with Oil companies.
The intention is to contain the spread of the spill of crude to other areas.
