17 February 2014, Luanda: The restructuring of the energy sector might be relevant in the development of the national electricity domain and boost the use of renewable energies.
This was said Friday in Luanda by the secretary of State for Water, Luís Filipe da Silva.
The official was speaking at the closing of the Workshop on Promotion and Development of Angola’s Renewable Energies,
On the occasion, the the secretary of State said renewable energies are relevant for the energetic security and benefits the populations, particularly those living in remote rural areas.
According to the official, the country has abounding renewable energy resources and their growing implementation in many cases offer appropriate technical, economic and environmental solutions.
Luis Filipe said there is still a long way to go, as the Ministry has been taking safe steps toward stock-taking these resources and drafting programmes that seek their growing utilisation.
As he added, the utilisation of renewable energies in most cases represents an economic and financial solution.
The official on the occasion mentioned the need for a fair and balanced policy in the sector and is absolutely crucial for the attraction of private investments.
The process of transformation of the electricity sector is underway in terms of conception and must take into account the growing transformation of renewable energies for the country’s energetic development.
The event was attended by more than 120 participants, among locals and foreigners.
