25 May 2014, Benguela — Angola’s daily average production of gas liquefied between 2012 and 2013 reached 18,000 barrels, totalling a cumulative 13.1 million barrels/year.
This was announced Thursday in Lobito, central Benguela province, by the Oil minister, Botelho de Vasconcelos.
The minister was addressing the opening of the Oil Ministry’s Broad Consultative Council taking place from May 22-24 in Lobito , with the participation of senior officials of the sector and directors of companies operating in the oil field.
According to the minister, this production corresponds to 6.4 million in 2012 and 6.6 million in 2013.
As for Luanda province, the official stressed that the local refinery processed during 2012 a total of 2.4 million metric tons of crude oil whereas in 2013 it yielded 2. 2 million.
With this production, he said, the result pointed to 4.013 million metric tonnes of refined petroleum products, with stress to the oil fuel and diesel.
In the light of these figures, the minister admits a rise in oil production of 11.2 percent, an evidence of progress being recorded in the sector.
The official also said that Angola LNG project expects to receive one billion cubic feet / day of associated gas from offshore fields in order to produce 5. 2 million LNG / year.
The minister also spoke of the strategy that consists of bidding for ten blocs in onshore areas of the basins of Cuanza (KON3, KON5, KON6, 7,8,9 and KON17) and Low Cuanza – CON1, CON5 and CON6, as well as assessment of five others blocs by the State-Run Oil company “Sonangol”.
