Port Harcourt — Seplat Energy Plc has announced the achievement of first gas from its 300 million standard cubic feet per day, MMscfd, ANOH gas project, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s drive to expand domestic gas supply, deepen industrialization and reduce routine flaring.
The company said gas production commenced last Friday on Friday,, following the completion of the 11-kilometre Indorama gas export pipeline and receipt of regulatory approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC.
With first gas achieved, the ANOH Gas Processing Company, AGPC, has begun supplying gas to Indorama Petrochemical Plant under firm and interruptible Gas Sales Agreements, after four upstream wells, on standby since November 2025, were brought online to enable gas flow.
Since start-up, wet gas production has stabilised at between 40 and 52 MMscfd, delivered directly to Indorama, while condensate production has reached 2.0–2.5 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, expected to rise as the plant ramps up to full capacity.
Mr. Roger Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy, described the project as a landmark achievement for both the company and Nigeria’s gas sector.
“ANOH is the first of the seven critical gas development projects identified by the Federal Government of Nigeria to commence operations,” Brown said. “It is an important strategic project for Seplat, our partner NGIC, and Nigeria as a whole.”
He noted that delivering the project in a challenging part of the onshore Niger Delta required “a significant amount of commitment and hard work,” adding that Seplat was “extremely proud of this achievement.”
According to him, the ANOH plant represents Seplat’s third major onshore gas processing facility, lifting the company’s joint venture gross gas processing capacity to over 850 MMscfd.
“ANOH will provide material income streams for Seplat, reduce our carbon intensity and contribute significantly to our 2030 production target of 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day,” Brown said.
Preparations are also underway to commence gas sales to Nigeria LNG, NLNG, under an interruptible offtake arrangement, which is expected to support further scale-up towards the plant’s full design capacity of 300 MMscfd.
Meanwhile, Seplat disclosed that construction of the OB3 pipeline export route by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company, NGIC, originally planned as the primary evacuation route for ANOH gas to the domestic market, has resumed, with a revised completion timeline to be announced.
The ANOH gas plant, developed as a joint venture between Seplat Energy and NGIC, comprises two 150 MMscfd gas processing units, LPG recovery and condensate stabilisation facilities, and a 16MW power plant, designed to operate with zero routine flaring.
Seplat said the project unlocks an estimated 4.6 trillion cubic feet of condensate-rich gas resources across the unitised OML 53 and OML 21 fields, while positioning the company as a leading supplier of gas and clean cooking LPG to Nigeria’s domestic market.
In addition, the company noted that the project was completed with zero Lost Time Incidents across 17.5 million man-hours, underscoring its focus on safe and sustainable operations.
