20 March 2014, Abuja – The Anti-Corruption Network (ACN) has requested President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately suspend Minister of Petroleum Resources who doubles as the chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke before the forensic audit of NNPC accounts over the missing $20 billion.
Executive Secretary of the ACN, Dino Melaye who is a former House of Representatives member in company of the group’s Director of Research and Documentation Ebenezer Oyetakin told newsmen in Abuja that Diezani could not be a judge in her own case.
He wondered why she refused to resign given the way the president treated the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Sanusi Lamido Sanusi over allegation of financial recklessness against him.
He also asked President Jonathan to name the company or organisation that would carry out the audit, which he said should not be surreptitious but opened and also call for the suspension of the Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, Mr. Andrew Yakubu, to pave way for the success of the audit.
