Coal bed methane player Arrow Energy has received approval for a central Queensland pipeline to take CBM from Moranbah in the Bowen basin to Gladstone.
Arrow chief executive Andrew Faulkner said this was the latest in a string of approvals for the project. The Queensland government last month approved an environmental impact statement for Arrow’s Browse basin gas field development.
The company also announced it has moved to the front-end engineering and design phase for the Bowen gas project.
“This proposed pipeline is a key piece of infrastructure in our plans to bring to market out significant gas reserves in the Bowen basin,” said Faulkner.
He added the company was working on choosing a development option with third parties for commercialising Arrow’s gas reserves in the Surat and Bowen basins.
The company originally had plans to develop a liquefied natural gas terminal in Gladstone, alongside the three other megaprojects, but that plan was shelved earlier this year.
