14 June 2016, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Niger Delta Avengers militant has insisted that the Federal Government must commit members state of multi-national oil companies to commit independent mediator for the proposed dialogue.
The militant who stated this on their website said it is the new item for dialogue noting that they want a genuine attitude and conducive atmosphere that will make them committed to any proposed dialogue and peace talk.
“We believe that it is only in such environment that will engender genuine dialogue that aimed to set up a framework for achieving the short, medium and long-term demands of the Niger Delta to de-escalating this conflict and bring about a lasting peace,” NDA posted on their website.
The militant vows to attack the interest of oil corporation and international refineries operators that bring in vessels to the Niger Delta territory to buy it oil which every successive government has refused to use and reapply the proceeds towards any development in the region since 1958.
“If they refuse to heed to our advice, we will result to sinking two of their mother vessels as an example to others.
“They should not undertake any repair of pipelines, oil and gas facilities that has been damaged or attacked by our forces during this period of “Operation Red Economy” until and/or after the dialogue,” the NDA stated.
The Spokesman of the Avengers, Brig. Gen Murdoch Agbinibo warned that they may review their earlier stance of not taking lives if their warnings are not adhered to.
“We are going to redirect and re-activate all our activities if the government, oil companies, and their services firms don’t heed these modest warnings of not carrying out any works and suspend the buying of crude oil from our region as we await the right atmosphere that will engender genuine dialogue. We want a peace with honour not a peace of our time,” Agbinibo said.
