Lagos — Axxela Limited, a leading gas and power portfolio company in sub-Saharan Africa, has successfully connected new customers to its expansive natural gas pipeline network. The move further underscores Axxela’s commitment to driving domestic gas utilisation in Nigeria and the region.

Currently serving over 200 commercial and industrial customers in the West African subregion, Axxela continues to power industries with reliable, cleaner, and more cost-effective energy solutions. The newly commissioned customers operate across key sectors, including Fast-Moving Consumer Goods, FMCG, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Hospitality, and Transportation, demonstrating Axxela’s capacity to meet diverse and unique energy needs.

These recent connections, which span key industrial hubs, were facilitated through Axxela’s subsidiaries, Transit Gas Nigeria Limited and Gaslink Nigeria Limited. The new customers connected to the pipeline network of Transit Gas were Unicure Pharmaceuticals Limited and Gas Tech International Limited, while Lagos Marriott Hotel, Jubaili Bros, Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria Limited, and Ocean Lord Limited were connected to Gaslink’s pipeline network.

Commenting on the latest milestone, Kehinde Alabi, Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, stated: “We are dedicated to accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition by delivering reliable and affordable natural gas solutions to the industries that drive the country’s economic growth. By enabling these businesses to switch to the natural gas advantage, we’re not only enhancing their operational efficiency but also fostering environmental sustainability through cleaner energy use.

“These new connections highlight our commitment to expanding domestic gas use, reducing carbon footprints, and offering cost-effective energy alternatives in line with the Federal Government’s energy transition goals. We understand that by collaborating with key players across various sectors, we are fueling industries and shaping a more sustainable future for Nigeria and the African region. This milestone further solidifies Axxela’s market leadership in promoting natural gas as the preferred fuel for driving industrial growth in Nigeria.”

Natural gas, a cleaner-burning alternative to traditional fossil fuels, emits up to 30% less carbon dioxide and significantly reduces harmful pollutants. By adopting natural gas, the newly commissioned companies are optimising their energy usage, reducing costs, and contributing to Nigeria’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

Over the past two decades, Axxela has continued to make significant investments in natural gas infrastructure development, delivering energy security, reducing operational downtime for businesses, and accelerating the drive toward a low-carbon economy.

Recently, Axxela also commissioned a 5km natural gas pipeline in Victoria Island, Lagos, the first phase of an ambitious 72.5km pipeline project extending from Victoria Island through Lekki.
